Sintra Quarters Decided

Isabela Sousa was once again the standout competitor with the highest total score for round 2. World title hopeful Eunate Aguirre was also showing form.
Day 1 Sintra
Well unfortunately Zoe and Julia got knocked in the Trials…
The first two rounds of the Men were contested as well as the trails and R1 of the Women.
Both of the front-runners in the WWT got their campaign off to a great start with Unate Aguirre (SPN) and Neymara Carvalho (BRS) winning their opening heats to progress into the next round. However the show-stopper of the day was Brazilian Isabella Sousa who scored two of the best waves of the day and completed some amazing moves to be crowned the days best performer with a heat total of 17.25

Sintra Starts Tonight!
The Sintra Portugal Pro starts tonight (Australian Time) and almost 200 of the worlds best riders have signed on to compete in the 3rd Grand Slam event on the 2009 IBA World Tour.
This event carries the maximum 2000 IBA championship points for the Men and 1500 for the Women and will be a critical factor in the positioning of the Top 5 riders as we enter the last stage of the circuit.
Sintra is one of the longest running events on the calendar and always a favourite stop for the competitors. The shifty beach-breaks and mega-structure create an environment like no other and the riders are treated like royalty. The streets are lined both sides with stalls selling bodyboard gear and this helps to add to the carnival like atmosphere.
The Women’s ratings are just as tight with Eunate Aguirre (Spain) just in front of the Brazilian duo of Neymara Carvalho and Jessica Becker. Puerto Ricans Luz Marie Grand Perez and Natasha Sargardia along with Rita Pires (Portugal) make up the top 6. A win at Sintra in a Grand Slam would establish a commanding lead.

Jessica Becker wins Sopelana BBK Pro

Brazilian Jessica Becker has won the 2009 Sopelana BBK Pro.
She defeated USA Milkshakes Team rider Roberta Bitzer in a hard fought final that saw Jessica get off to an early lead. Roberta came back with two srtong rolls to reduce the score to a 6.10 for a win but time was ran out and Jess walked away as Champion.
Jessica showed why she narrowly missed out on a world title last year with a polished display of bodyboarding in front of a massive Sunday afternoon crowd at Sopelana.
Jessica defeated local favourite Eunate Aguirre in the semi whilst Roberta disposed of Catarina Sousa (Portugal) with a late 9.5 in the second semi.
The crew now roll into Portugal for the Sintra Portugal Pro that starts on Tuesday…Watch it live at womensbodyboarding.com/live
