Tips For Producing The Best Product Labels

Business Blog

Whether you have homemade jam that you want to give to friends and family or you are starting a business with candles that you make, you need product labels. While you could pay someone to create the labels for you, many people find it much more satisfying to be in total control of the process.

To help you make the best possible product labels, you will want to check out the following tips:

Go Shape Crazy

Sure, you have the standard rectangle shape for your basic product labels, but why not try something different? After all, the point is to grab attention, right? Try a circle, star, or a wavy blob. Just make sure that you are not settling on one product label shape until you have tried out a few on your product. This way, you will be able to see firsthand what it would look like to your potential customers.

Find A Logo

If you do not yet have a logo for your business, now is the time to find one. You will want to stick that logo on your label so that your product is recognizable from a distance. While you do not want it to be overly obnoxious, you do want it to be something that is so different than other logos for similar products.

It can be funny, cute, cartoon-like, or serious. Just make sure that it is something that you are going to want to stick with for a long time because you do not want to confuse your customers by constantly changing your logo.

Bold Print

While it can be a lot of fun to look through the hundreds of various fonts, you will want to stick with something more simple. Keep it simple so that everyone will be able to read it with ease. You will also want to make your company name, contact number, and product name in bold so that it easily catches the eye.

Once you have figured out all of those things, you will be able to draw up a rough sketch of your product label, have a sample printed out, and then place it on one of your products. If you want, you can have a test run with that label at a local fair or flea market to see just how well it is received by the people walking past. This might give you a good idea if you are on the right track or if you have to change a few things.
