Tips for Detailing the Outside of Your Car

Business Blog

If you want your car to look as nice as possible on the outside, there are lots of ways you can detail your vehicle and improve its overall exterior look.

1. Start With a Simple Wash & Dry

If you want to detail the exterior of your car, you need to start with a clean surface. You are going to want to start with a simple wash and dry. Take a hose with a spray nozzle attachment, and use it to rinse off the car. Then, mix up car wash soap and water in a clean bucket.

Use a wash mitten or a sponge to apply the soap to the car, and rinse it off. Dry your vehicle using a microfiber cloth. A quick basic wash will give you a clean surface to work with to get to work.

2. Use a Water Spot Remover

Sometimes, when your car is left sitting outside for a long period of time, it can get water spots on it. These water spots can degrade the quality of the paint. Getting rid of water spots just by washing your vehicle is tough, which is why you will want to use a high-quality water spot remover; be careful with using a water spot remover, though, as they can be corrosive in nature and should be used sparingly.

3. Use Trim Detailer

Your car is not all metal. For the plastic and rubber areas on your vehicle, you will want to use a trim detailer, which is specially designed for metal and plastic surfaces. A trim detailer will both help clean up trim parts on your vehicle and will help give them a nice shine as well.

4. Polish the Lights

Your lights are part of the exterior of the car. Therefore, you will want to use a special polisher designed for lights to clean the surface of your taillights and headlamps. This will help your lights look brighter and cleaner.

5. Polish Things Up

Now you are ready to polish the outside of your vehicle. You will want to use a polishing product, such as Turtle Wax Pro, to polish up your vehicle. Take an applicator pad, and dip it into clean water. Then, put the wax on the pad when it is damp. Apply the wax using the classic circular motion. Allow the wax to dry a bit, and then go over the wax with a clean microfiber towel. As you wax, just focus on one body panel at a time for the best results.

If you want the exterior of your vehicle to look great, you will want to take your time detailing each aspect of your vehicle. A little bit of time can transform the way your vehicle looks.
